Little Things

When someone gives me a gift, pays for my meal, offers to drive, recommends a good book, etc. I find so much delight in it that it almost brings me to tears.
I know it may sound silly but it’s honestly the truth.

We live in a world where people are selfish, inconsiderate, and cruel so to know that someone out there cares enough about me to surprise me with even the tiniest trinket that they think I may enjoy, really warms my heart.

If someone offers to pay for my meal, it shows me that not only did they want me to indulge in the meal but also that they are concerned enough about me to see to it that I eat.

When someone offers to drive or pick me up and give me a ride, I can’t even begin to express how much that means to me. I enjoy driving but there are times when I’d like to just sit back and relax while enjoying the scenery. When someone else drives, it makes me think that I’m something special to them since they are using their time and gas on me or with me.

Every time someone recommends a good book to me, I feel that they observe me and know that I read, and I feel so special when they tell me why they enjoyed the book so much, how beautifully written it was, how the characters became so real to them, it illuminates the fact that the person shows enough interest in me to share those details with me.

It’s little things like that, that I hope I never take for granted.
