“Roller-Coaster”

Today marks my parents 34th Anniversary together.
My father isn’t the most affectionate man so I go out of my way to make my mom happy, especially on this day.

As you know, I work at a bakery so I figured I’d have a cake made for my parents.
This cake has been in the works for a week. Well the creativity part.

I told the crafter at work exactly what I was thinking of for their cake and she exceeded my expectations.

This was the final result:

My parents loved it! Even my dad!

My parents have really been through a lot and I will always be thankful for them staying together.
My mother especially. Her dedication has been the glue in this family.

She could have left my father a very long time ago, with right reason to do so but she stayed.
And staying has not always been easy.
Throughout it all, she stayed.

She is the true definition of the word loyalty.

As we celebrated her anniversary tonight, I asked her how would she describe the past 34 years of her marriage.
In between her sighs and chuckles she said, “It’s been a roller-coaster.”

“Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous. It does not brag, does not get puffed up, does not behave indecently, does not look for its own interests, does not become provoked. It does not keep account of the injury. It does not rejoice over unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth.
It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.”
– 1st Corinthians 13: 4-8
